A celebration of Arbor Day, the event aims to enhance the village’s natural environment by encouraging volunteers to plant 320 native trees and shrubs along Fox Mead Brook in the Brewster Road Hardwood Wetland, organizers said.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. In the event of rain, the event will be postponed until the following day.
People, families, youth and civic groups and businesses are welcome to participate in the day, organizers said, adding that attendees are required to pre-register in advance at the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department in Village Hall or online.
Those planning to attend should dress for outdoor planting and bring a pair of gardening gloves, organizers said.
Community Planting Day is sponsored by Scarsdale’s Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department and Friends of Scarsdale Parks, organizers said, adding that the New York Department of Environmental Conservation is supporting the effort through its Trees for Tribs program.
